Welcome to Safe Families for Children in the West Midlands.
Our West Midlands Hub currently covers Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull and Coventry.
Across the region there are over 9,000 children in Care.
Sadly, Birmingham is ranked the most deprived city on both income and employment deprivation. The Department for Education estimates that around 40% of the children in care are there due to issues such as acute family stress or dysfunction or disability rather than abuse or neglect.
So that’s where Safe Families for Children comes in! And that’s where you come in!
We provide support to families via our wonderful volunteers. These volunteers befriend and mentor, host children overnight, and provide resources to families to help them in times of crisis and prevent their children needing to go into the Care system.
In the first year we aim to support at least 100 families…that’s 100 families whose children might have ended up in care! Often these families are isolated and have no-one to turn to. Our volunteers help to bring them into community, bringing about a sense of acceptance and welcome and building a network of support.
We can’t wait to get to know you and together help families in crisis. Click here to meet the team!
