Welcome to Safe Families for Children Midlands.
The Safe Families for Children model matches volunteers with families in crisis to enable them to stay together and thereby reduce the number of children going into care. These volunteers act as Family Friends, Host Families, or Resource Friends.
Spreading across England from the successful pilot in the North East, Safe Families for Children has been working in the Midlands region since Spring 2015, developing relationships with churches in local communities, building the volunteer pool and accepting and matching family referrals from local authorities.
Safe Families for Children are pleased to be working alongside Nottingham City, Derby City, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Sandwell and Walsall councils to find long-term solutions for families in need of support. Public Social Partnership agreements allow Safe Families for Children and local authorities to work hand-in-hand to help vulnerable families within the local authority area.
The vision is a to create a network consisting of hundreds of compassionate, community-based volunteers who will reach out to families experiencing crises of different kinds, and especially those who have younger children.
