Welcome to Safe Families for Children Greater Manchester! Are you looking for some part-time volunteer work? Find out how you can help!
There are over 2.7 million people in Greater Manchester. As the second largest built up area in Britain, there are some big needs here. Proportionally one of the top 5 cities with the highest number of children in care, Manchester has two times as many children in care than the national average and we’re hoping to really make a difference in the lives of families in our community.
The vision of Safe Families for Children is to create a network consisting of hundreds of compassionate, community-based Christian volunteers who will reach out to families experiencing different kinds of crisis by supporting them and their children.
Many families receive needed assistance from these committed volunteers at key moments of family stress. Our aim is to help families cope at those times when life seems overwhelming by befriending, hosting children overnight, and providing resources, and with this help to reduce the number of children who need to go into care.
We are currently working with Manchester City, Salford, Trafford and Wigan to support vulnerable families.
We want to strengthen the local community and make sure families receive the support they need to keep children out of care. We are truly grateful for our wonderful and dedicated volunteers for making this possible. Find out how you can be involved or contact us on 0161 413 5130 for more information.
