We want to pass on an enormous well done to Barrie and Pauline Lee who were shortlisted for the South Tees Excellence in Volunteering Award.
Barrie and Pauline, along with our sponsor Sir Peter Vardy, and Safe Families for Children Teesside Regional Co-Ordinator Sonia Daniel, attended the awards dinner at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough.
Sonia says, “Pauline and Barry have been involved in Safe Familes since the very beginning. They have hosted children, they’ve supported families, distributed resources and co-ordinated the efforts of other volunteers on their patch. They have such a can-do attitude, absolute stars!”
Barrie and Pauline add, “Personally as a couple we have been very blessed as we work with Safe Families. We both enjoy working with children. We want to welcome children into our home and be involved in charity that works in early intervention alongside families in crisis, giving families practical support, respite and time to work their problems out. It is both a challenge and a joy to support these families, people constantly ask is it difficult and we would say yes it is at first but it does get easier with experience!”
Whilst Barrie and Pauline didn’t scoop the top prize on the night they’re absolute stars as far as we’re concerned!
