We are delighted to announce a new partnership venture in Scotland, with the Bethany Christian Trust.
For some time now there has been a shared vision for Safe Families for Children and the Bethany Christian Trust to work together for the sake of some of Scotland’s most needy children and families. Talks have been going on behind the scenes in order to explore the many exciting possibilities that lie before us. In simple terms, there’s loads of opportunity for a real difference to be made, and our two organisations share a very similar ethos of Christian compassion in action, so the discussion has been more oriented to when and where rather than if and but.
The Bethany Christian Trust has a tremendous 30-year history of reaching out to society’s most vulnerable. It has around 200 staff and nearly 3000 volunteers based in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, West Lothian, Glasgow and Dumfries which support around 4,000 homeless and vulnerable people every year. BCT has its headquarters in Edinburgh and that is where Safe Families for Children Scotland will first be launched.
Bethany’s CEO Iain Gordon comments:
“Thousands of families across Scotland are struggling with challenges in everyday life that can put their health and wellbeing at risk. We are delighted to join with Safe Families For Children UK to offer a compassionate, supportive, service helping whole families to thrive within their community.”
Right now the first staff are being hired, two team members initially with more likely to follow later in the year. A launch event is being planned for the 10th October 2014. More about that in a future news update.
