How St Mungo’s Church Met the Needs of a Local Family

babyequipment3Having a newborn baby is life changing — sleepless nights, the joy of a smile, feeding, interpreting needs based on a cry, cuddles, sleepless nights again, a tiny hand grabbing your finger. With a newborn, you realise both your limitless love for your child, and the very real physical limits of your mind and body. That’s what one of our families were going through when they were referred to us by their worker from Bethany Christian Trust.

The couple have a happy family with four beautiful, healthy children, including their new baby girl, but with dad unable to work due to illness, they couldn’t afford to buy or even the time to shop for basic toys, clothes and equipment for their newborn daughter.

babyequipment1We sent out an appeal for help, and within days, St Mungo’s Church in Balerno responded. They donated clothes, a cot, a changing mat, toys and more. When we delivered the gifts to the family last Friday, they were delighted and overwhelmed by the generosity. On behalf of the family and the staff at Safe Families for Children Scotland, thank you, St Mungo’s! One person’s generosity is another’s miracle.

Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. —2 Corinthians 9:11
