We want to express our heartfelt thanks to all the team at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in the heart of Newcastle city centre for nominating Safe Families for Children as one of their main charitable beneficiaries.
Hundreds of worshippers at the annual Christmas carol service for a wonderful evening of music, signing and listening to the Christmas story being creatively told using various versions of the bible text, both ancient and modern.
Safe Family’s Chief Executive was given a prime spot immediately following a rousing recital from the Salvation Army brass band. He spoke of the many overlaps between the original Christmas story and the contemporary work of Safe Families for Children – helping families in crisis – just like Mary and Joseph.
The collection of almost £2000 was split equally between Safe Families for Children and CAFOD, a Catholic aid agency that are helping communities in the Philippines to recover in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.
