Archbishop Justin becomes our Patron

We were absolutely delighted to receive official confirmation from Lambeth Palace that the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Justin Welby has agreed to become our Patron.

The appointment of the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury was announced at Lambeth Palace of the Right Reverend Justin Welby, today.

Archbishop Justin said: “Encouragement and help from supportive friends can make such a difference to parents and children in challenging times. I’m very pleased to have been asked to become Patron of Safe Families for Children as they extend their work to help volunteers and churches provide that essential support for families in crisis.”

Chief Executive Matt Wilson commented, “This is great timing for us as we will soon enter year two of our work, a year in which we will start to grow beyond our current base in the North East and into new regions of Britain. The Archbishop is a national and indeed international figure and therefore his involvement makes a statement about the growing significance of the Safe Families movement.”

In the years ahead Safe Families for Children plans to replicate its work into towns and cities throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Wherever the charity becomes established it will remain committed to working with and through the local church in order to bring about social transformation. Watch this space!
