We recently arranged for four children being supported by Safe Families volunteers to attend an adventure camp. All the children had an amazing time, meeting new friends, embracing the wonderful opportunities to learn some new skills and have fantastic adventures. The group were taken out on excursions every day, including visits to an adventure park, crazy golf and canoeing. All the children will have long lasting memories of the things they did and learned, some of which we share below.
O was a very polite little girl and joined in everything. “My favourite thing about camp was learning how to sail. I learnt that miracles can happen.”
S was an absolute joy to have and was up for everything. She made great friends and was very supportive of everyone in her dormitory. “I learnt how to windsurf and make new friends. I absolutely loved camp.”
R was a very thoughtful boy, came and spoke to one of the camp leaders when he was leaving and whispered he hoped her mum would be better soon – she is in hospital. “I learnt that everyone is unique and amazing.”
A captured the hearts of all the leaders. She even invited them to her house giving instructions of how to get there! Her nan is the love of her life! “Sailing was my favourite thing and I learnt that I can make friends.”
